Leon Building Services was appointed to deliver the construction of a new Youth & Community Centre, known as The Den, for the Your Ideas Youth & Community Project in Redditch. The scheme involved a combination of partial demolition, new‑build construction, external works and landscaping to create a modern, inclusive facility designed to support young people and the wider community.

The project required careful coordination to transform the existing site into a functional, welcoming and durable community asset.

1. Demolition & Site Reconfiguration

The project commenced with partial demolition of the existing building, followed by significant site re‑shaping works. This enabled the creation of a larger, centrally located flat area, forming the foundation for the new building and associated external facilities.

2. New Two‑Storey Youth Centre Construction

Leon Building Services constructed a new two‑storey building, purpose‑designed to support youth and community services. The construction incorporated:

• Modern internal layouts suitable for flexible community use
• High‑quality building materials and finishes
• Full mechanical and electrical installations to support long‑term efficiency and comfort

The building was designed to be robust, accessible and adaptable, ensuring it meets the evolving needs of its users.

3. External Works & Community Facilities

The wider scope of works also included:

• Creation of a new outdoor ball play area, providing a safe and engaging recreational space
• Re‑configuration and upgrading of the existing car parking area
• Associated electrical and mechanical services
• Comprehensive landscaping and planting works to enhance the external environment and improve site aesthetics

These elements were carefully integrated to ensure the facility supports both structured activities and informal community use.

Delivering a multi‑disciplinary project involving demolition, new build works and external site development required careful planning and coordination. Leon Building Services worked closely with Harris & Associates to manage programme, quality and compliance throughout.

The project commenced in November 2023 and was successfully completed in September 2024, with works delivered safely, efficiently and in line with the agreed specification and programme.
