Project overview
Leon Building Services was appointed to deliver a multi‑phase education-sector project at Blessed Edward Oldcorne Catholic College in Worcester, involving a combination of demolition, new-build construction and extensions to existing facilities.
The project was designed to enhance learning and sports provision across the school by creating modern classroom accommodation, upgrading indoor sports facilities and improving welfare provision for pupils and staff.

Scope of works
1. New Classroom Block
The project included the demolition of existing structures followed by the construction of a new single‑storey classroom block, providing modern, purpose‑built teaching accommodation.
The new build was delivered to meet current educational standards, incorporating efficient layouts, high‑quality finishes and fully integrated building services to support long‑term use.
2. Sports Hall & Welfare Extensions
Leon Building Services also completed extensions to key existing buildings on site, including:
- An extension to the existing sports hall to create a new dedicated gym space
- An extension providing new toilet facilities within the school
These works were carefully coordinated to integrate seamlessly with the existing structures while improving functionality and capacity.
3. Building Services & External Works
In addition to the new build and extensions, the wider scope of works included:
- Full mechanical and electrical installations
- New roof coverings to existing buildings across the site
- Drainage works
- Associated site works to support the new and upgraded facilities
All works were carried out in accordance with the specification prepared by PR Associates and in line with relevant statutory and safety requirements.
Challenges & delivery
The scheme required careful planning to deliver demolition, construction and extension works within a live school environment. Leon Building Services implemented robust health and safety procedures and coordinated works to minimise disruption to school operations.
The project commenced in March 2023 and was successfully completed in January 2024, meeting programme expectations and budget requirements.
